Restore Your Oral Health with Tooth Extraction in Chandler
Wisdom teeth, or third molars, emerge as the last set of permanent molars. These teeth are also the most likely to require extraction due to any of several complications. However, you may also need to extract other teeth if root canal therapy or other treatments cannot save them. If you need a tooth extraction in Chandler, our skilled team at Provinces Dental ensures a comfortable procedure, maintaining your optimal oral health. Some of the most prevalent reasons for tooth extraction include the following:
Impacted tooth – a tooth is trapped beneath bone or gums and not emerging properly.
Small mouth and Crowding – emerging teeth may cause other teeth to shift or crack due to lack of space.
Decay or infection – When a tooth is damaged by extensive decay or infection that cannot be cured by filling or root canal treatment, it may necessitate extraction.
Dr. David Poelman and Dr. Jonathan Bergloff, experts in tooth extraction in Chandler, may recommend the extraction of one or more of your teeth if any of these issues apply to you. At Provinces Dental, we ensure that each extraction is performed with the utmost care, prioritizing your comfort and post-operative recovery. Whether dealing with impacted wisdom teeth or severe decay, our Chandler dental team is here to provide comprehensive and compassionate care.
How to Relieve Pain After Tooth Extraction
Pain from a tooth extraction usually lasts 2 to 3 days for basic extractions and 3 to 4 days for wisdom teeth, but it should gradually get better with each day. The majority of the discomfort is gone within one week, but the gum and bone will continue to mend for weeks or months. If your discomfort develops after the fourth or fifth day, or if it is severe and persistent, please contact Provinces Dental or come to our office at 1070 E Ray Rd #7, Chandler, AZ 85225.
FAQs
What to eat after a tooth extraction?
After a tooth extraction, stick to soft foods like yogurt, applesauce, smoothies, and mashed potatoes to avoid irritating the healing area.
Is tooth extraction safer than a root canal?
Both procedures are generally safe when performed by a dentist. A root canal saves your natural tooth, while extraction removes it. The best option depends on your oral health.
How much does a tooth extraction cost in Chandler?
Prices depend on factors such as tooth location, the complexity of the procedure, the type of anesthesia used, and whether it’s a simple or surgical extraction.
What to avoid after a tooth extraction?
Avoid smoking, drinking through a straw, and vigorous rinsing for the first 24 hours, as these can dislodge the blood clot and delay healing
How to soothe pain after tooth extraction?
Pain after extraction is common, and your dentist may recommend over-the-counter pain relievers or prescribed medication. Following the aftercare instructions carefully is the best way to reduce discomfort and speed up recovery.
What benefits do tooth extractions have over root canals?
A tooth extraction is often quicker and requires fewer visits compared to a root canal, making it a faster solution for patients who need immediate relief from severe tooth pain or infection.
How long do infections last after tooth extraction?
A mild infection after tooth extraction can last a few days to a week with proper treatment. However, untreated infections may persist and worsen, so it’s important to follow your dentist’s care instructions.
How long does it take to recover from a tooth extraction?
Most patients recover from a tooth extraction in 7 to 10 days. However, complete healing of the gum and bone may take several weeks. Following your dentist’s aftercare instructions helps speed up recovery.
How painful are tooth extractions?
Tooth extractions are not painful during the procedure because your dentist uses local anesthesia to numb the area. Most patients feel only pressure, not pain, during tooth removal.
Do’s and don'ts after tooth extraction?
After a tooth extraction, follow your dentist’s instructions carefully. Rest, apply ice packs, take prescribed medications, and keep gauze in place to control bleeding. These steps promote faster healing and reduce the risk of complications.
Why is day 3 the worst after a tooth extraction?
Pain and swelling often peak around day 3 because the body’s natural healing response is in full effect. Inflammation increases as tissues repair, which can temporarily make discomfort worse before it improves.
